This fall, the Bond franchise celebrated its 50th Anniversary and put out its newest hit, Skyfall, a film that earned over a billion dollars at the worldwide theatrical box office. Now, the flick is getting released on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download a little sooner than many of us may have expected. Skyfall will hit Blu-ray and DVD on February 12, but if you plan to purchase the flick digitally, you’ll be able to nab a copy on February 5.
The latest Bond installment, directed by Sam Mendes, has been lauded for its throwback humor along with its inventive action sequences. Skyfall also heavily focuses on M (Judi Dench), who is challenged by an individual from her past. Feeling she can trust Bond, M relies on her best 007 agent to challenge the villain who is hoping to wreak havoc and cause trouble. If you are going to wait until February 12 to purchase a hard copy of the flick, the Blu-ray is the real winner, sporting over three hours of bonus features. The bulk of these seem to be “Shooting Bond” segments, although a few of these will be available with DVD copies. Additionally, Skyfall Blu-ray copies will come in a combo pack with a DVD and digital copy, as well as several commentaries and the theatrical trailer for the movie. If you’ve already bought a copy of the Bond 50 set, there is a slot available to place Skyfall in order to complete your collection. You can check out the lengthy list of extras, below.
