It's a busy day for Spielberg news. Earlier today we told you about the plans for a Jurassic Park trilogy Blu-ray release coming later this year. Well, it turns out that the movie that created the tradition of the summer blockbuster is receiving a Blu-ray makeover as well.

As part of an interview with Ain't It Cool News, Spielberg confirmed that a Blu-ray Jaws edition is indeed on the horizon. He didn't provide a specific date, but given that Jaws has an anniversary coming up next June (the marketing-unfriendly 36th), a release in the first half of 2012 would make sense.

Another reassuring tidbit from the same interview: it seems Spielberg has had a change of heart in the years since his digital tinkering on E.T.. He told AICN that "there’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct. I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show." I'll drink to that!
