Streep, Bullock And Oprah To Star Together In Home Shopping Network Comedy
As a possessor of a Y chromosome, I can't be expected to know everything about women (they don't like to be called fat, right?). That said, I've become fairly aware that things they do like include Sex and the City, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey and Sandra Bullock. Well, ladies, do I have a new film for you.
Universal has announced that Michael Patrick King, producer, writer and director of everything Sex and the City related, has signed on to a new project that will see Streep, Winfrey and Bullock star in a film about the Home Shopping Network. According to the article, the story and characters were developed with the three actresses in mind to the point that no others would have sufficed in the roles. King says that he plans to start writing the script immediately and plans to be finished by January. Though scheduling might be an issue (these aren't exactly the most unpopular figures in Hollywood), they are aiming to have production begin by next fall.
All that I can really hope for is that this film, unlike the Sex and the City movies, actually does something to help the poor boyfriends who get dragged along on date night. Lord knows that we have suffered enough throughout the years and now's the time that we receive some retribution. I don't expect it, but it couldn't hurt to ask.
