Summer's Surprise Hit Ted Will Be Even More Raunchy On Blu-ray In December
Ted went into the box office as a fairly funny looking movie about a talking teddy bear with a partying problem and came out of box office as the third highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time. I’m sure it helped that Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane was on board to direct and co-write the script, but the film's huge box office success--earning $218 million in the States alone--was a surprise. If you happened to miss the movie, or thought it was really fucking funny, Ted will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD on December 11. Just in time for the holidays, kids!
Despite being raunchy and loud-mouthed, Ted is a comedy that almost any adult can enjoy. I know this, because during a recent family reunion my entire family (kids excluded) attended, including my 87-year-old grandfather, who couldn’t get enough of Mila Kunis. Even if you don’t like the gal, the movie is pretty fun, and occasionally even poignant, although it does constantly remind us that it is a Seth MacFarlane flick (insert your own non sequitur).
The Blu-ray and DVD will come with all of the goodies I personally like to see with a comedic releases. First, the disc will come with an Unrated Version of the film, as well as a gag reel, which tend to be the best parts of comedy Blu-rays. I’m usually less excited about the commentary and “Making of” segments with comedies, but since Ted is CGI’d into the flick, those could be pretty interesting. If you spring for the Blu-ray, you’ll also get deleted scenes and alternate takes, as well as the “Teddy Bear Scuffle,” which will highlight the fight scene in the film.
