The Farrelly Brothers Want Cher For The Three Stooges![]()
With a mid-April start date scheduled, the pressure is on for Peter and Bobby Farrelly to find their three leads for The Three Stooges. Once said to have Jim Carrey, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn attached, the cast list is currently empty, though the search continues. But while they continue to look for their new Larry Moe and Curly, that doesn't mean they aren't thinking about people to play supporting roles as well.
The Farrelly brothers, who are currently promoting their newest film, Hall Pass, recently told the LA Times that they want Cher, who recently made her acting comeback in the musical Burlesque last year, to play the role of Mother Superior, a nun that the stooges terrorize, in their next film. Cher previously starred as herself in the Farrelly's 2003 comedy Stuck on You, in which she played herself. The brothers also commented on the rumor that they were quick to debunk last month when a rumor came out that Andy Samberg and Johnny Knoxville were being considered for Larry and Moe, saying that the two still have a chance at the parts. Said Bobby Farrelly, "We like both of those guys. We always thought Samberg looks a little like he could play Larry. And Knoxville is a real-life stooge. He's a real-life Moe." If they really are planning on starting this film up in April they better get a move on casting-wise. This project has been around for years and now it's coming down to the wire, with only two months to bring everything together. Considering how much our own Josh Tyler liked the script, hopefully they can get it done. |
