A third installment in the xXx franchise is happening, again. A third entry was first greenlit back in 2009 here and was supposed to happen at Columbia Pictures. Now it’s drifted over to Paramount and Deadline says they’re starting again.

This time Rob Cohen is set to return as director and Vin Diesel is still involved. Sam Jackson is also expected to return as Agent Gibbons. The plot will involve the return of Vin’s Xander Cage character after he’s left for dead. They put him back to work when there’s a difficult assignment only he can handle. I guess they need him to surf on a dinner tray or something. That’s a pretty rare skill.

It’s not clear whether they’re keeping the name attached to the project when it was at Columbia. Back then it was called xXx: Return of Xander Cage and that still seems to fit the plot. Personally I’m hoping they’ll retitle it xXx: Bitches Come.
