Sure, Iron Man 3 opens in just a few days internationally, and only a week after that in the United States. But in movie marketing terms, that movie is already dead and gone. Marvel knows by now that you're going to buy your Iron Man 3 tickets, so they've moved on to pumping up their next release, November's Thor: The Dark World. A trailer for it will be debuting online tomorrow, and we can expect something near the end of Iron Man 3 to lead us into the next story from Marvel's fast-expanding universe. But before any of that we've got these two new images from the film, which premiered at USA Today. That's Thor and Jane reunited up top, and you can see a closer look at Thor below:
According to our resident Asgardian expert Sean O'Connell, that's probably an ally you see behind Thor, since the armor doesn't much resemble the dark elves who we know will be the central villains. In the article accompanying the images, Hemsworth hints that the elves will force Thor to ramp up his battle skills:
"I really wanted to ramp up his skill set in battle. He's not just this Viking throwing the hammer. Here he's more demigod with dynamic moves we haven't seen before."
But one of the bigger conflicts may be personal. A lot of us were wondering when The Avengers came out why Thor would just dash back to Earth so easily, when Thor ended with him heartbroken and separated from Jane by the celestial barriers between Earth and Asgard (or something-- Sean's the expert, not me). Hemsworth has hinted before that Jane wasn't going to totally overlook that, and he expands on it here:
"Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up. Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe."
We'll have the new Thor: The Dark World trailer to you as soon as it pops up tomorrow, and in the meantime you can click here for everything else we know about it.
