Thor And Loki Make A Deal In First Clip From Thor: The Dark World
You've read about my experiences on the set of Thor: The Dark World, and saw what director Alan Taylor, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had to say about the film. Now, however, it's time for a new extended look at the new Marvel Studios movie. Fandango has posted the first ever clip from the upcoming superhero blockbuster, and it features everyone's favorite Asgardians making a very serious deal.
Fans will remember that Thor (Hemsworth) brought Loki (Hiddleston) back to Asgard at the end of The Avengers to make the God of Mischief pay for his incredible crimes, and this clip shows that the hero was quite successful in doing so. From Loki's ragged clothing, mussed up hair and pale skin I would guess that he has been rotting in that jail cell for a long, long time.
But what is it that both Thor and Loki are after? What does he mean by "escape Asgard?" It's easy to guess that the former wants the latter's help in going up against Malekith the Accursed (Chirstopher Eccleston) and his Dark Elf army, but what is this vengeance that Thor speaks of? It's a guess, but it sounds as though someone close to both of the brothers isn't going to make it out of The Dark World alive.
Another question that remains is whether or not Thor can actually trust Loki in any capacity. Is it possible for Loki to redeem himself, or is he just too far off of the deep end? And if things do go sour, would or could Thor ever actually kill his brother? It's an incredibly complex relationship, and one that Hemsworth talked about at length on the set:
"I think maybe we have a common need or something. You know the scene in Avengers when Thor says, “Careful how you speak.” He may be crazy but he’s my brother. He’s a screw up, but he is my brother. I don’t think they’re going back to being best friends, but I think Thor’s at a loss about how they got to this point, ‘cause for him I think all this stuff came out of nowhere.
Thor: The Dark World, which also co-stars Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Sir Anthony Hopkins, will be in theaters on November 8th.
