Todd Phillips To Direct And Produce Thriller Trust Your Eyes
Director Todd Phillips has spent his entire career directing comedies like Old School, The Hangover and Due Date, but now it seems as though he's ready to change things up a bit. Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to to the thriller novel Trust Your Eyes after winning a bidding war and the studio has hired Phillips to both direct and produce the film.
Described by Variety as being "in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window," the story follows a character named Thomas Kilbride, a schizophrenic who is completely obsessed with maps, using a site called Whirl360.com to travel around the world from his bedroom, memorizing streets and faces he sees in the satellite imagery. It's a harmless hobby until one day he is touring the streets of downtown New York City and while looking into windows sees what he believes to be a woman being murdered. Thomas enlists the help of his brother Ray, who also serves as his caretaker, and while Ray is simply humoring his sibling at first, they both eventually realize that they have stumbled upon something big and find themselves in great danger.
Written by Linwood Barclay, the book arrived on shelves earlier this month and will be the authors first adapted work. In addition to Phillips, the project will be produced by Dan Lin as well as Jon Silk, and Green Hat Films' Scott Budnick and Mark O'Connor are expected to be a part of the project as well.
Phillips is currently in production on The Hangover Part III, which will be in theaters on May 24, 2013.
