Tom Hardy And Noomi Rapace In Talks To Reteam For Thriller Child 44
Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace haven't even begun work on the upcoming Dennis Lehane adaptation Animal Rescue yet, but already they're getting set to team up for another film to do together. The two stars are now both in talks to join the cast of Child 44, the upcoming thriller based on the novel by Tom Rob Smith.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which reported the casting news, the story is a period piece set in 1950s Soviet Russia and centers on a police officer working to solving a string of child murders. But as he digs further and further into the mystery he suddenly finds himself as " the target of his own governmentís suspicions." Should they sign on, Hardy will be playing the lead role, while Rapace will play his wife, a woman who seems to be hiding a secret.
As first reported last August, Safe House director Daniel Espinosa will be helming the feature, with Ridley Scott and Michael Costigan producing through their Scott Free label. Richard Price, who previously wrote for HBO's The Wire and has feature credits including 2000's Shaft and Martin Scorsese's segment in 1989's New York Stories, is handling the adaptation.
Hardy and Rapace both have Animal Rescue as the next film on their respective production schedules, with the MichaŽl R. Roskam-directed project set to go before cameras in March. He most recently completed work on George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road (which sadly won't be heading to theaters until 2014) while the Prometheus star will next be seen alongside Colin Farrell in the action movie Dead Man Down.
