Best known as the director of The Thin Red Line and more recently The New World, Terrence Malick generally keeps to himself and keeps information about his movies with him. The long time director recently wrapped up production on his next film, tentatively titled The Burial, and The Wrap has got rare details about the film’s plot.
And when I say details, I mean some serious details. It’s not often that you see this exhaustive a description unless someone actually gets their hands on a script. Here, they merely found themselves some call sheets and put the pieces together. Needless to say, SPOILER ALERT. The Burial is loaded with stars. Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel Weisz, Javier Bardem, Barry Pepper and Rachel McAdams all appear in this romantic drama set presumably in or around Oklahoma as that’s where the film was shot. Affleck stars as Neil, a failing writer who shares no love with his wife Marina (Kurylenko). Both of them begin looking for love outside the marriage, but Marina is the first to break her vows by cheating with Charlie. In the mean time, Neil is drawn to Jane (McAdams). From there it becomes a twisted web of domestic disputes with Father Quintana (Bardem) thrown in the mix to officiate and give advice to both parties who seek help from him independently of one another. One final detail to note is that Kurylenko shot a nude seen in a motel during her characters affair. The scene is listed as “waist down” which may mean we’ll probably just see her butt if anything so don’t get your hopes up, guys. A last detail from the set is that Rachel Weisz demanded craft services provide $100 protein bars the four days she was on set. Sounds like they have a bit of a diva on their hands. For literally every single detail you could ever hope to know about the film, head over to The Wrap, but be warned, the write up contains everything but the dialog. If you’re looking to go into this one spoiler free, just don’t read it. Back to top
