The first trailer for Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris’s new wester Appaloosa is here. In it, they play tough as nails lawmen out to clean up a crime infested, wild west town. It’s a classic western story, but told with Jeremy Irons as the bad guy and Renee Zellwegger as the squinty-eyed love interest. Westerns haven’t gotten a fair shake lately, even the great ones like Costner’s Open Range haven’t gotten quite the attention they deserve. With such a great cast, maybe this one will change the tide. It looks really great. Watch the trailer below:

What about 3:10 to Yuma. now, that film was great. not a bang-bang western but a very compelling drama. and viggo's back in the saddle after 1990's Young Guns II.
