Trailer For New York Film Festival Boasts Stunning Cinema
The 50th New York Film Festival kicks off today in a major way, opening with Ang Lee's awe-striking 3D spectacle Life of Pi. Held by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, NYFF has a long tradition of exhibiting extraordinary cinema that boasts big stars, heralded auteurs, and fascinating films from all around the world.
Whatever your tastes, NYFF has something that is sure to appeal. This year's lineup includes a masterworks section wherein the beloved Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the epic Lawrence of Arabia will screen alongside the rarely shown Heaven's Gate and the never before seen director's cut of Frank Oz's Little Shop of Horrors. There's also special events like a midnight movies selection and a 25th anniversary screening of The Princess Bride with a Q&A featuring director Rob Reiner with members of the cast including Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, Carol Kane, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn and Robin Wright!
But the main draw is the main slate, which boasts Cannes-selected titles like Leos Carax's drama Holy Motors and Lee Daniel's thriller The Paperboy, TIFF picks like Noah Baumbach's comedy Frances Ha and the Bull Murray-fronted docudramedy Hyde Park on Hudson, and用erhaps most enticingly葉he world premieres of Life of Pi ( check out Katey's reaction here) and Robert Zemeckis's Flight, which stars Denzel Washington. Get a glimpse of these titles and many more below in the festival's invigorating trailer that features snippets from all 33 films on the festival's main slate:
The New York Film Festival runs from September 28th through October 14th. For tickets and screening schedules, consult the Film Society of Lincoln Center's site, and check back here for Katey and I's ongoing coverage of the best the fest has to offer.
