As the star of the massively successful HBO show True Blood, Stephen Moyer has become very famous among fans of the show, and completely unknown among those of us who still refuse to jump on the vampire bandwagon (or the HBO bandwagon-- take your pick). Now that he's making his way into movie roles, though, the rest of us will have a chance to figure out the appeal. THR reports that Moyer will be starring in two separate films, the spy thriller The Double and Big Valley, a movie version of the 1960s ABC series.
In The Double he'll be acting alongside Richard Gere and Topher Grace , who will play a retired CIA operative and young FBI agent (guess who plays who) hunting down a killer in Washington. THR isn't saying which role Moyer will play, but the killer would be fun, right? Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the guys behind both Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma, wrote the screenplay for that one, and Brandt will be making his directorial debut. The Big Valley will be a pretty different thing entirely-- starring Jessica Lange in a role originated on TV by Barbara Stanwyck, the film is about a family of ranchers making their way through 19th century California. Moyer won't be family, exactly, but will play the family's attorney protecting them from the railroad companies who want to take their land away. Back to top
