Earlier today Jeremy Renner captivated us with his stealthy spy skills in the tantalizing trailer for The Bourne Legacy. And now news is surfacing on another Renner project called Lowlife, which is currently shooting in New York City. Previously known as the Untitled James Gray Project, the drama is set in the midst of turn of the century Manhattan and centers on an impoverished Polish immigrant who is driven to burlesque and prostitution to afford care for her desperately ill younger sister. While living under the control of a temperamental and cruel pimp, she finds hope and the promise of romance when a dashing vaudeville magician falls for her.

Oscar-winning French stunner Marion Cotillard is set to lead the film as the Polish prostitute, while two-time Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix and Renner will play the pimp and magician, respectively. And now Deadline reports that Angela Sarafyan, who played Martin Starr's doe-eyed girlfriend in last Fall's A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, has signed on to play Cotillard's sickly sister. It's some solid casting as Sarafyan shares an unmistakable resemblance with the gorgeous French star.

With this announcement, it seems Sarafyan's career is on a pronounced upswing as she's set to hit the big screen this fall in the guaranteed blockbuster (and possible opening weekend record-breaker) Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Her inclusion here will surely win her hoards new fans, so to follow this mainstream role with a part opposite such a string of acclaimed A-listers may kick this willowy ingénue to the next level.

Lowlife marks the sixth collaboration between Phoenix and writer-director James Gray, so it seems Gray isn't too sore about Phoenix turning the Two Lovers press tour into his own Andy Kaufman-style extended prank for I'm Still Here. It'll be good to see Phoenix return to more traditional villain roles, and I'm always ready for more from Cotillard and Renner. Simply put, sight unseen Lowlife is looking pretty stupendous.
