UPDATE: Do You Want To See A Charlie Sheen Cameo In The Hangover Part II?
UPDATE: Todd Phillips has gotten in touch to say this rumor is "100% untrue." You'll have to see Sheen and his tiger blood elsewhere.
When last fall's Due Date ended with a cameo from Charlie Sheen as Zach Galifianakis's character fulfilled his dream of appearing on Two and a Half Men it was already in questionable taste. Sheen had already been in and out of rehab once that year, and when Due Date premiered on November 5, Sheen had just been forcibly removed from the Plaza Hotel after trashing his room. But director Todd Phillips stood by the cameo, and though a few people might have cringed when the movie ended on a gag about Sheen's alcoholism, the movie avoided any real controversy.
Now, of course, Charlie Sheen's drug and alcohol problems have become a national circus, which means a cameo from him in a movie could be even more attention-getting and shocking. It doesn't come as too much of a surprise, then, that Badass Digest is hearing that Phillips wants Sheen back for a cameo in The Hangover Part II. The movie has wrapped and is set for release on May 26, but it's definitely not too late for Sheen to pop in and spend a day filming a cameo opposite whatever star they can wrangle. It seems like Sheen will appear in front of pretty much any camera these days, so it might not be that hard for Phillips to get him on set.
The thing I wonder, though, is how good an idea this will seem in three months, when the Charlie Sheen Media Blitz is finished and he's out of the spotlight, either continuing his over-privileged life or taking yet another turn for the worse. I can't be the only person who thinks it's entirely possible that Sheen will be dead by the time The Hangover Part II opens. Phillips could shoot the cameo and decide later down the line whether he wants to include it, of course; I just have a feeling that by May, one way or another, every single one of us will be sick of even looking at Charlie Sheen. I'm kind of sick of him now.
