Watch The First Theatrical Trailer For Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In
Antonio Banderas has done a lot of kids movies in the past few years. Between playing Puss in Boots in the Shrek franchise and doing the "dad thing" in Robert Rodriguez's first Spy Kids movies, his audience for the last decade has primarily consisted of people under the age of 13. But people familiar with Banderas' work before 2001 know that hasn't always been the case. Watching the first theatrical trailer for Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In, it appears that not only is the Spanish actor's next film not for children, but anyone below the age of 13 shouldn't even be in the same building where its being shown. Check it out below or in HD over on Yahoo!
In the film, based on the novel by Thierry Jonquet, Banderas plays Dr. Robert Ledgard, a brilliant plastic surgeon who has discovered how to create a durable synthetic skin. His test subject is a mysterious woman named Vera (Elena Anaya) who is prone to violent outbursts. Together they share a past that shelters a dark secret. The movie is the first project Banderas has done with Almodovar since 1990's Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and made its debut earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. Following appearances at both the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival the movie will have a limited release on October 14th. Yahoo has also posted the film's first poster, which you can check out below!
