Watch The New Trailer For Winnie, Starring Jennifer Hudson And Terence Howard
Though Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini have certainly left their mark on the movie world (how will we ever forget the brilliant film From Justin To Kelly?), Jennifer Hudson has easily made more of an impact than any other American Idol contestant. While she failed to win the top prize during the third season of the reality television singing competition, she used her popularity from the program to land a role in Bill Condon's 2006 film Dreamgirls and wound up winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Since then her time as an actress has been limited, taking roles in movies like Sex and the City, The Three Stooges and The Secret Life of Bees, but her biggest role to date is her performance as Winnie Mandela in Darrell Roodt's historical drama Winnie.
Co-starring Terence Howard as Nelson Mandela, the film premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, but despite it's solid cast it failed to get the attention of any distributors in the United States. While we continue to wait for the movie to hit Stateside, it will be hitting theaters in Canada next month and now a new trailer has premiered online to promote the release.
The preview has come online via Yahoo! Canada and you can watch it below.
Based on the biography by Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob and adapted by Roodt and Andre Pieterse, the film tells the life story of Winnie Mandela from her time as a child to her experience after her husband was put in prison. Our Canadian brethren will be able to see it on October 5th, and when the movie does arrive in the United States we will be here to give you all the details.
