As the box office braces for the summer season onslaught arriving next week, it watched and waited this weekend as audiences through shameless amounts of money at completely crap movies.

The painful Beyonce Knowles vehicle Obsessed somehow managed $28 million to be the top of the heap. The fact that it's number one can be blamed on the lack of anything better to watch. The fact that it made that much money is hard to figure.

Fighting, Channing Tatum's newest excuse to take his shirt off and try to act came in third place with $11 million. Jamie Foxx, who left his shirt on this time but once again spent a film mugging for an Oscar, only took in $9 million on The Soloist, and Disney's rehashed television series turned feature pseudocumentary landed fifth with $8 million.
