Zombieland Scribes To Helm Comedy Doc And Howie![]()
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are the two most sought after screenwriters in Hollywood right now. The pair penned the outstandingly clever Zombieland, which landed them jobs writing what will most undoubtedly be some of the biggest films we’ll see in the next three years, Zombieland 2, G.I. Joe 2, and the Deadpool spinoff.
On top of all that, the duo’s Earth vs. Moon is being developed at Universal, and they’ve got a comic adaptation of Cowboy Ninja Viking going at Disney. As if that weren’t enough, THR is reporting that Reese and Wernick will be taking on their directorial debut together in the form of comedy Doc and Howie, a comedy described as being in the vein of Harold and Kumar. Doc and Howie are two friends who accidentally let an old woman die, but who are then united with her hot granddaughters as they struggle with the idea of telling them the truth. As much as that sounds like a terrible National Lampoon’s direct-to-DVD Paris Hilton movie, it’s impossible to not trust in the pair of rookie directors to take that idea and ramp it up into something brilliant. It’d be easy for a seasoned director to lob a softball here, but these guys have something to prove on their first outing so expect it to be much bigger than its simple description. More on this once casting rumors start flying. |
