BREAKING MOVIE NEWS
Normally, Adam Sandler trailers are met with a heady mix of disappointment, regret and sadness. But the first clip for The Cobbler is something rather different, and it looks set to be a surprisingly heart-warming tale that has Adam Sandler at its core.
Iím in Toronto once again, covering my eighth consecutive TIFF. Itís always a thrill to be at the center of the fest, but I know (from experience) how overwhelming it can be. So I jumped on a podcast with my great friend and colleague Erik Davis of Movies.com to preview the 10 films that we can not wait to see in Toronto.
Hearing what director Tom McCarthy has to say about his upcoming film The Cobbler makes me really want to see the trailer for this film. Alas, itís a bit premature for that, but we do have our first look at Adam Sandler as a shoe repairman who looks like heís still in the process of starting his day in this photo.
Watching him as the star of Boardwalk Empire, it may be easy to forget that Steve Buscemi tends to pop up in Adam Sandler movies from time to time, the most recent of which would be Grown Ups 2. It appears the two funny men will be reuniting once again in Tom McCarthyís upcoming film The Cobbler, in which Adam Sandler will star as a shoe repairman who integrates himself into the lives of the people whose shoes he fixes. Also joining the cast is Dustin Hoffman.
But this indie drama isn't all Stevens left Downton Abbey (and Lady Mary!) for. Variety notes that he has also signed on to join the growing menagerie of Night at the Museum 3.
White the source doesn't say if McCarthy wrote the script for the film himself - as he has with all three of his previous directorial efforts - it's noted that the story centers on a shoe repair man (played by Sandler) who somehow has the metaphysical ability to experience lives through other people's eyes "for a certain period of time."
