Tyler Shields’ directorial debut Final Girl stars Abigail Breslin as a teenager who stands up and fights back against a group of too-cool-for-school dudes who use murder as an initiation into their exclusive club. And as full-length trailer seen above shows us, she isn’t just some helpless damsel who suddenly becomes a super survivor in third act: she was trained since childhood by Wes Bentley
The "final girl" is a trope frequently used in horror movies, referring to the remaining female character left to face off against the murderer(s) or monster. In the case of Tyler Shield's upcoming film Final Girl, the female lead is intentionally set up for this scenario, but little do her attackers know, she's more than capable of taking care of herself. Even with her back to us, she gives off that impression in the new poster.
At sixteen years old, Abigail Breslin has proven numerous times that she has a lasting kind of talent and one we're still only just beginning to see as she continues to branch out with regards to the roles she takes. She was introduced to us as the adorable Bo Hess in Signs back in 2002 and we'll see her appear in another alien-themed film when the adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game releases into theaters next year.
