BREAKING MOVIE NEWS
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been branching out in filmmaking. But the dapper leading man is getting ambitious, by digging into a long stalled adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman for Warner Bros.
Based on the Neil Gaiman comics that began in 1989, Sandman follows the story of Morpheus, the personification of dreams, who finds himself imprisoned by an occult ritual for 70 years. After managing to escape, he both takes vengeance against the people who kept him in chains and works to rebuild the empire that has crumbled in his absence.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has gotten to do some pretty amazing things on film in the past few years: he fought alongside Batman, survived cancer, traveled through time and rode a bike better than anyone. For his next film, he’ll be doing quite a bit of walking, and that walking will happen on a tightrope over 1300 ft. above the ground.
Gordon-Levitt turned quite a few heads couple of months ago when he was rumored to be directing and starring in a big screen adaptation of the classic comic series The Sandman, made most famous during Neil Gaiman’s masterful run with the character.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Martin Short, Stanley Tucci, Mandy Patinkin, Werner Herzog, William H. Macy, Mae Whitman, Jennifer Grey, Darren Criss, Ronan Farrow, and Elijah Wood have all come on board to do voice work for The Wind Rises's stateside release.
Based on the comic book series that Gaiman first started writing back in 1989, Sandman follows the story of Morpheus, the personification of dreams. Due to an occult ritual he is held prisoner for 70 years, but after escaping and getting vengeance against those who kidnapped him he sets his sights on rebuilding his fallen kingdom.
Goyer has pitched an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's signature comic Sandman to Warner Bros, but warns this could-be project is in the very earliest of stages. Essentially now it's just talk. But, their source says that Geoff Johns notable comic book writer is lending his weight to Goyer's proposition.
While reports about Gordon-Levitt being in Ant-Man may be totally wrong, it's also not hard to see why the stories are believable. Not only is the actor in the prime age range for a superhero part, he is also one of the more popular young actors working today and even already has some comic book movie experience having starred in last year's The Dark Knight Rises.
According to the trade, there is a possibility that a third actor could enter into the race for the part, but that for now Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the two "main contenders." The Ant-Man movie has become a bigger priority at Marvel ever since it was revealed last month that the film's release date was being pushed up from November 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015.
There's a difference between the flops an actor makes early in their career, or even the flops that happen once they're well-established, and the flops that seem to happen just as their careers are picking up steam. Just when audiences are starting to get to know and like an actor, or when Oscar buzz or "A-list star" titles start floating around, out comes some awful disaster that's so bad, everyone chooses to simply forget about it and move on
Don Jon is really only about a few things. His body. His pad. His ride. His family. His church. Hi boys. His girls. And, of course, his porn. It's that last part that really starts causing him trouble in Don Jon, the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also transforms himself as the titular charter, a classic Jersey bro who has to learn the hard way that immersing yourself in porn is no actual way to live your life

In the movie Gordon-Levitt stars as Jon "Don Jon" Martello, Jr., an ordinary guy in his mid-30s living in New Jersey who cares about nothing in the world other than his family, his friends, his car, his apartment, getting laid, and watching porn. He lives a happy if unsatisfying life, but everything starts to change when he meets Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson), the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
In Don Jon, JGL plays a club rat who trolls Jersey’s hottest bars in search of an ideal mate. He finally finds one in ScarJo, but is unwilling to ease up on his online compulsions just because he eventually ends up in a semi-serious relationship.
