David Fincher's Se7en is a film that really never needs a sequel. The movie is an excellent, self-contained serial killer mystery, and while the idea of seeing Morgan Freeman and/or Brad Pitt come back to those roles, it truly never needs to happen. As you can imagine, that didn't really stop Hollywood from trying, but the good news is that those efforts didn't pan out.
Two Rabbits director Alfonso Poyart continues to bolster the cast for his psychological thriller Solace. After casting leading men Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Colin Farrell, we now know the actress who’ll be acting alongside them, and it’s a familiar face from Farrell’s Seven Psychopaths days.
While Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s television career, including roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural and Magic City, has been an all-around success, his cinematic career has been uneven at best, balancing mediocre big-budget films like Watchmen and Red Dawn with mediocre low-budget thrillers like The Possession and The Resident
New Line is close to securing buzzed about Brazilian director Afonso Poyart, who has drawn notice with his action-packed debut 2 Coelhos. Poyart, wrote, directed, produced and cut the mayhem-laced tale of police corruption, and has already sold the remake rights to Tango Pictures, which will keep him on board as executive producer. However, Solace would be the helmer's domestic debut, should he sign on.
A lot of actors sprint away from their more iconic roles so that they can prove their range. Anthony Hopkins, on the other hand, completely embraces them. Possibly known to more people as Hannibal Lecter than by the name he was born with, Hopkins has played multiple kinds of roles over his six decade career, but has never tried to distance himself from either creepy characters or serial killer dramas.
