Stan Lee's X-Men: Apocalypse Cameo Has A Very Special Guest

Minor spoilers ahead for X-Men: Apocalypse. If you want to go in completely fresh, you might want to check out one of our other great stories.

After months of waiting and anticipation, X-Men: Apocalypse is finally upon us, and fans of Marvel’s mutants can finally see the X-Men duke it out with the likes of Apocalypse and his horsemen. While moviegoers are most excited to see their favorite superpowered mutants kick some serious ass in Apocalypse, there is another important Marvel figure who will be making a not so surprising appearance. That person is none other than Marvel grand poobah Stan Lee.

While Stan Lee is known for making cameos in every Marvel film, his role in X-Men: Apocalypse features a very special guest: his wife Joan Lee.

Stan Lee makes his quick appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse when the title character is causing some worldwide chaos. At that point, he manages to enter the minds of soldiers who apparently have access to nuclear weapons, and the entirety of the world’s nukes are launched straight up into the sky. During this time, we’re shown a ton of extras looking skyward as the missiles ascent. Two of these on-lookers are Stan and Joan Lee, who embrace as they look up in fear.

While Stan Lee has an impressive resume of film cameos, this is Joan’s first time on the silver screen. Of course, Joan is no stranger to Marvel projects as a whole. She voiced the character Madame Web in Spider-Man: The Animated Series for a handful of episodes. Additionally, she lent her voice acting talents to Fantastic Four: The Animated Series as Miss Forbes.

All things considered, Stan Lee’s cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse is one of his least exciting. The film doesn’t have a ton of humor, so it’s significantly harder to give Lee something special or humorous to do during his brief screen time. The Amazing Spider-Man featured Stan Lee in a library, obliviously listening to classical music as Spidey and the Lizard engage in an epic battle behind him. Additionally, Iron Man saw Stan doing a pretty convincing Hugh Hefner impression, and Deadpool recently put the 93 year old smack dab in the middle of a strip club. With all of these hilarious appearances, it’s pretty easy for Stan Lee’s role in Apocalypse to fall to the wayside, despite the inclusion of his wife in the shot.

Luckily for us, Marvel has become a never ending schedule of films and TV series, so I’m sure we’re going to get a more hilarious Stan Lee cameo rather soon.

The next MCU film, which will surely feature some time with Stan Lee, will be Doctor Strange on November 4th, 2016. We’ll be sure to update you on all things Marvel and Stan Lee as details become public to us.
