Chris Evans Reponds To Brie Larson Captain Marvel Rumors

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow and grow. We’ve got a new Spider-Man, our first Black Panther, and soon we will get Carol Danvers a.k.a Captain Marvel. The Internet exploded over the last week at the idea that Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson may potentially step into the highly coveted role. It’s an incredibly exciting prospect, and now Marvel Studios’ original Captain has chimed in on the matter.

Comicbook.com reports that during a recent panel at Wizard World Philadelphia, Chris Evans announced that he completely supports Brie Larson as the potential frontrunner for the role of Captain Marvel, and that he hopes she lands the role:

I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in '09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she's phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.

Like most of us, Chris Evans seems beyond excited about the prospect of Brie Larson potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has a working relationship with the recent Oscar-winner, as they both played "Evil Exes" in the cult comedy Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and he has nothing but kind things to say about her acting ability, as well as her overall personality.

The casting of Captain Marvel is a huge deal, and a big step for Marvel Studios. Her upcoming solo movie will be the franchise’s first real female-fronted movie, and as such they have to make sure that they nail the casting in order to make sure that the character starts off on solid ground.

The casting of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel is not something that anyone could have predicted. Up until recently many of the fan favorite casting choices came in the form of somewhat older actresses with considerably more action film experience – such as Emily Blunt, or extreme athletes like Ronda Rousey. Brie Larson doesn’t have much actual action experience to note, but her recent stint in Room definitively proved that she could most certainly project the strength and perseverance necessary for any silver screen hero.

We here at Cinema Blend will keep you up to date with any and all news related to Brie Larson’s potential Captain Marvel casting. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, she seems like the type of actress who would fit perfectly within this growing world. Captain Marvel is currently slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
