Gal Gadot Looks Battle Ready In New Wonder Woman Image

Everybody may be talking about the fast approaching Suicide Squad right now, but let's not forget about Wonder Woman, the next DC solo film. That movie is less than a year away and we're starting to see some of the first promotional material. There's no trailer yet (that's probably being saved for a big showing at Comic-Con) but some new photos for Wonder Woman's first solo outing have been released and they show that this Amazon is ready to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and Themyscira doesn't have bubble gum.

These new images come from Entertainment Weekly, who were nice enough to share them through their Twitter account. This first image shows Gal Gadot fully suited up and reaching for her sword, and she looks great. We've seen Wonder Woman before in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but this image still somehow feels new. The costume is mostly the same, but this time it's got a lot of colors that really make it pop. That should make anyone who was dissatisfied with the muted visuals in BvS happy. Combine this with the extremely colorful footage for Suicide Squad, and it looks like the DCEU is shaping up to be a brighter place. Plus, her hair is very classic comic book Wonder Woman, with lots of waves and curls. Gal Gadot faced some criticism when she was first cast for not looking enough like a fictional character, but she really owns the look here.

Entertainment Weekly also had a few more pics, but the next most notable is probably a one with a robed Diana conversing with Chris Pine's Steve Trevor, which you can view here. We know that the movie takes place during World War I (a rarely seen War on film these days) and that Steve Trevor is a soldier who crash lands on Themyscira. Diana decides to follow him to Man's World to help end the conflict and experience life off of the island. This photo could possibly take place after the two of them have left Themyscira and are about to reenter civilization, hence the robe to hide Wonder Woman's armor. That is, of course, 100% speculation on my part and literally anything could be happening.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins with a screenplay penned by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns. The film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and Robin Wright. Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2017.
