Marvel Rivalry: Robert Downey Jr. Welcomes Tom Hiddleston To Instagram With The Perfect Joke

Tom Hiddleston recently joined Instagram with an image of himself in his Loki garb, announcing his return to the role for Thor: Ragnarok. Since Hiddleston is a Marvel villain, it only makes sense that a Marvel hero should take a shot at him. Who better than Robert Downey Jr.? The actor posted his own photo welcoming his colleague to the social media service. It was only appropriate of Downey to do so, considering how much Tom Hiddleston apparently loves the actor's Marvel performance as Iron Man.

The fact is that we all love Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Who knew Tom Hiddleston loved it so much that he had a t-shirt made? It was so nice, and so in character for Downey to welcome Hiddleston to Instagram in this way. Thus far, we haven't seen any response from the Thor actor. The only image on Hiddleston's page is the Loki image from yesterday. Although, letting people know that Hiddleston was now using Instagram appears to have been successful, the new account is now over a half million followers. It gained two thousand more while I wrote this.

Of course, the I love T.S. t-shirt doesn't actually reference Tony Stark. Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware that Tom Hiddleston recently began a relationship with pop singer Taylor Swift. Seriously, I made no attempt to gain this knowledge, and yet I have it. Granted, I work in media, but I'd guess most of you already knew this, and most of you didn't care. The relationship is something of a big deal, given the relative fame of the two, although not everybody is convinced it's entirely on the up and up.

We're quietly hoping that this turns into a great online feud between the two MCU actors. The entertainment value to the rest of us would be nearly immeasurable. In addition, with Tom Hiddleston currently filming Thor: Ragnarok, he's got Chris Hemsworth and a number of other actors available to help him set up some great Marvel related images to harass Robert Downey Jr. with. Now that we think about it, we know that the next time Downey will play Tony Stark is in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is also currently filming. They could actually turn this Instagram battle into something of Civil War proportions. Of course, since Hiddleston is new to Instagram, maybe he doesn't really know how to use it yet. Maybe he has no idea that the image was even sent out. Can somebody please go tell him?

How do you think Tom Hiddleston should respond? A little photoshop work to create an I love Loki t-shirt? Give us your ideas in the comments below.
