New Captain America: Civil War Featurette Goes Behind The Scenes Of Cap and Bucky’s Fight

The summer kicked off into a high gear a few months ago with the release of Captain America: Civil War, the much hyped and anticipated film that saw Captain America at odds with his friends and fellow Avengers. That film set a precedent that the rest of the summer hasn't really been able to match, which is why people are probably excited for the blockbuster to release on Blu-ray next month. If anyone is on the fence about making the purchase, Marvel has released a clip of one of the home release's special features that shows a look at how Cap and Bucky's fight scenes were made. Check it out.

This YouTube clip shows a behind-the-scenes look at how the action around several scenes in the movie was constructed before they slapped the visual effects on it. The clip opens with a look at the fight between Steve Rogers and Bucky after his Winter Soldier programming was reactivated by Zemo. One major thing to note is that it's actually Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan doing the stunt work. The two actors usually do a fair amount of stunt work themselves and, as noted in the video, it gives the filmmakers more freedom to frame the shot and it makes the shot more convincing. Then we get to see the impressive stairway fight where Bucky used a battering ram to beat people up. There's lots of wire work shown, as Sebastian Stan flies down fleets of stairs with Evan's Cap not far behind.

We don't get to see anything from the big airport fight scene or the gut wrenching one at the end between Cap and Iron Man. You could probably make an entire featurette around the airport fight alone, so hopefully the Blu-ray delivers on that front. There's also an amazing story behind Spider-Man's inclusion in the film which I hope they address in the special features. Sometimes these special features basically equate to fluff pieces, so fingers crossed that we get to see some honest footage from one of the biggest movies of the year.

The clip itself is a piece of a longer featurette called "Dived We Stand, United We Fall: The Making of Captain America: Civil War" which takes a look at the behind-the-scenes making of the film using footage and interviews with the cast and crew. Other special features on the Blu-ray include two more videos examining the evolution of Captain America and Iron Man respectively, and how their years of backstory have led to this moment. There's also, of course, a gag reel that has all your favorite heroes swearing a bunch as they make mistakes. Perhaps the coolest thing on the disc, though, is the commentary track from directors Joe and Anthony Russo and the writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus. Considering these four men basically hold the keys to the Marvel kingdom, there should be a bunch of interesting factoids in the commentary.

The Blu-ray hits shelves on September 13, so don't forget to pre-order your copy if your one of those types who worries about things selling out.
