New Doctor Strange Clip Finally Shows Off His Cloak’s Magic Powers

Stephen Strange won't merely bring ideas like magic and mysticism to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe when Doctor Strange premieres next month. In addition to all of those outlandish and inexplicable concepts, he will also bring some pretty badass fashion as well. A new clip from Doctor Strange has hit the web, and it shows off exactly what his Cloak of Levitation is truly capable of. Check out the clip below:

The above clip just hit the web, and it showcases far more of the magic aspect of Doctor Strange than we have seen before. In keeping with the visual style of the other Doctor Strange trailers, we see Stephen Strange cast plenty of truly breathtaking spells. However, it's the Cloak of Levitation that really seems to steal the show. A powerful, magical artifact (as well as a powerful fashion statement) the Cloak appears to have a mind of its own in several scenes, and even fights back against its wearer at several points. However, by the time Doctor Strange has to finally face off against Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), he seems to have mastered its abilities as he soars through the air.

Astute Marvel fans will almost instantly recognize the Cloak of Levitation as a central facet of Stephen Strange's now-iconic comic book persona and look. Not only has the fictional cape become an integral aspect of the hero's appearance over the course of the last five decades, but it also serves as one of his primary modes of transportation -- allowing him to levitate and fly with incredible ease. Not including the Cloak in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie would be akin to making a Captain America film without Steve Rogers' trusty vibranium shield, or making a new Thor movie without Mjolnir; it's simply unheard of.

In addition to showing us far more of Stephen Strange's magical capabilities, this clip also further emphasizes how much humor we will see in Doctor Strange. Although the first trailer for the film showcased a much more serious and dour adventure, the later clips, trailers and commercials have all placed a very strong emphasis on Marvel's trademark humor. Doctor Strange likely won't delve as far into the realm of comedy as a movie like Ant-Man, but it will definitely have all of the laughs that we have come to expect from the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the course of the last decade.

One thing is certain: this brand new clip from Doctor Strange has only made me even more excited for the Sorcerer Supreme's solo movie -- something I didn't even realize was possible. Cinema Blend will bring you all of the latest and greatest news related to the film as more information becomes available. Doctor Strange will hit theaters next month on November 4. Stay tuned for more details!
