Ultimate Wolverine Trailer Shows Hugh Jackman’s Long, Painful Trip To Logan

There was once a man named James Logan Howlett, but folks came to call him "Logan" for short. Eventually though, through a twist of fate, and some actions of his own, he became to be known as "The Wolverine." Logan's life has always been a struggle, be it for acceptance or in combat throughout the various wars of mankind's history. All of that has made him into who (or what) he is today, and it's all important information to keep in mind during Hugh Jackman's final installment as the famous member of the X-Men team. Thankfully, a new resource melds the past and future of the world of Logan into one easy to watch video, which you can see below.

An inventive YouTuber named Afauclair has taken the recently released first trailer for Logan and made some creative edits. Namely, they've taken clips from various points throughout Wolverine's personal history and woven them into the already apocalyptic looking visions from James Mangold's final collaboration with Hugh Jackman. Now, instead of just flashing visions of an uncertain and very violent future, we also get to see the tumultuous past that Wolverine has lived through. The end result is something that's truly a thing of fan-crafted beauty.

Of course, there's one nit-picky detail that stands out in this otherwise solid trailer remix for Logan. While there are clips from both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X3: The Last Stand included to great effect, the problem with including footage from either film breaks with the continuity of Logan. Seeing as both films are conveniently forgotten by the new timeline shown at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it's highly unlikely that he'd be seeing the visions of those pieces of his newly overwritten past. Continuity questions aside, this total history of all things Wolverine couldn't have happened at a better time.

The world of Logan may be a vast departure from the usual world of humanity and mutants clashing that we're used to seeing, and yet the deadly effectiveness of Wolverine's methods is still the same. Anyone expecting something different is going to be massively disappointed, particularly if they think that an older incarnation of everyone's favorite mutant is any weaker or easier to anticipate. With such a storied history before him, it's going to take one hell of an ending to truly close the books on Logan.

Logan gives the world one last Wolverine story, when it takes its bows in theaters on March 3, 2017.
