The Version Of The Flash Ezra Miller Doesn’t Want To See In The Movies

Ezra Miller The Flash

Without question, one of the most powerful heroes in the entire DC universe is the Scarlet Speedster. At his most capable, The Flash can process information faster than any living being, and outrun any threat -- but what's the fun in that? Ezra Miller recently addressed his upcoming tenure as the legendary speedster, and he admitted that he wants his depiction to steer clear of the all-powerful version of The Flash seen in stories like Kingdom Come. The actor explained:

I love this comic 'Kingdom Come' - unbelievable art - and in that The Flash is fully evolved, and you never even see him, right? It's just like a red mist, and there's no crime in [Keystone] City. He protects a whole chunk of the country. So that wouldn't make for the most interesting film - you know what I mean? What do we have to learn about that guy? That guy barely exists, right? He's almost one with the Speed Force. So it's interesting to go to the beginning.

Ezra Miller recently spoke to IGN role about Barry Allen in the DCEU and clarified the type of Flash he wants to play. Although he definitely wants his version of The Flash to look and feel like a capable crime fighter, he doesn't want to play the "fully evolved" version of the character seen during Mark Waid and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come storyline. In particularly comic book arc, The Flash has such a fast superhero that there's quite literally no crime in his city, and he's almost omnipresent; he never stands still. By contrast, it seems like Ezra Miller wants to keep the silver screen Flash more like the TV Flash, who is powerful, but still fallible.

The Flash Kingdom Come

As much as we love the Kingdom Come iteration of The Flash, we have to admit that Ezra Miller is probably right. A less experienced and less powerful version of The Scarlet Speedster is more prone to making mistakes, which in turn makes the film far more dramatic. We adore The Flash, but an omnipotent hero is hard to root for.
