Great Movies On Netflix That Are Perfect To Stream With Your Family On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for being thankful for those you love and your quality of life, with a nice meal and fond thoughts to be share with all. Traditionally, this meant everyone had to sit through a football game, or maybe an old school classic that everyone shows to get people revved up for Christmas. However, we're in an age where so many options are available, so we're not constrained to the slim pickings given to us by broadcast TV. That's right folks, it's time for another indispensable Netflix list!

If you want to liven up your family's turkey day celebration, then it's suggested that you consult this list of three brackets, set to please families of all shapes and sizes. We've broken our picks into three listings: families with young children, families with tweens and teens, and those families that are all grown up. Feel free to browse the entire lot, and don't be shy to mix and match programming from all three lists into your own cornucopia of holiday entertainment! It's our way of saying happy thanksgiving, from us here at CinemaBlend!

Families With Young Children

The little ones can be a mite unpredictable when it comes to their tastes in entertainment. However, that's a challenge we're willing to face head on, as a lot of Disney's finest features are available through Netflix's streaming library. Be it Zootopia, the latest and greatest Disney animated hit to grace the screen before this week's Moana takes the stage, or Tarzan, their filmography is pretty well represented here. Though for those of you not in the Disney mood, there's always the classic farm film Babe, or a recent favorite of ours, the irrepressibly charming Paddington.

Sing Street

Families With Tween / Teen Kids

If you thought the little ones were hard to program for, the tween / teen crowd is even more demanding. Disney isn't going to cut it, and there's very few films that can be enjoyed as a family, without your soon-to-be adults having to roll their eyes constantly. Lucky for them, Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids is available, and is more than likely going to get everyone in the room dancing to the beat. If you're looking for more music, Grease and Sing Street will help sooth everyone after your holiday meal. And what list for adolescents with discerning taste would be complete without Moonrise Kingdom or The Princess Bride? Bonus points to the parents who low-key turn their kids on to better movies with the picks on this list.

South Park

Families With Older / Grown Kids

Here we are, at our final frontier. Your kids are either grown up, or they're on the cusp of adulthood and college themselves. In which case, it's time to break out some movies from the Netflix equivalent of our liquor cabinet. Old favorites like White Christmas and Sixteen Candles are sure to bring some vintage smiles to everyone faces, while Chef and Swingers will prove to the room that Jon Favreau can do just fine outside of the Disney wilds. Though if you're looking for some profane comedy that'll leave you gasping for air, South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut and In The Loop are the double feature you've always dreamed of.
