Power Rangers Movie: 6 Surprising Things We Hope They Include

It's been quite a while since Saban's teenagers with attitude graced the silver screen, but the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers are slated to make a glorious return this spring when Power Rangers finally debuts. In anticipation of the upcoming Lionsgate reboot, we've received a ton of awesome glimpses at what to expect, including looks at Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa, the Power Coins, and even the Megazords. For fans who grew up on the original series, it's a treasure trove of nostalgia.

That being said, despite all of the cool stuff we have seen from the upcoming Power Rangers reboot, there's still a ton of awesome, unseen elements from the lore that we want to see as well. We've compiled a list of vital components of the Rangers mythology that we want to see revealed in the near future. Take a look at our entries and let us know what you want to see in the upcoming film. Now let's get started with one of the most monstrous Power Rangers characters of all time...

Power Rangers Goldar

Goldar

It turns out that Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) won't be the only iconic Power Rangers villain to pop up during the events of the upcoming reboot; the film's central villainess will also bring along her equally iconic muscle, Goldar. While Rita is the brain of the operation, Goldar is the guy you wouldn't want to square off against in a dark alleyway late at night -- even if he also serves as a punching bag for Rita whenever she fails. Fans of the original Power Rangers series have a very specific image of the gold-clad demon monkey, but given the insane aesthetic changes we have already seen for several other characters, we're dying to see where the reboot will take him.

Power Rangers Putties

Putty Patrollers

There's one universal truth that Power Rangers fans have come to accept over the years: Putty Patrollers are the stuff of nightmares. Serving as Rita Repulsa's primary foot soldiers, Putty Patrollers (or just "Putties") are the main cannon fodder for the Power Rangers to square off against. They're mindless, obedient, and difficult to defeat in large numbers. If Rita and Goldar are going to appear in this reboot, then we can only assume the Putties will show up as well, and we cannot wait to see how the Power Rangers update changes their already haunting appearance.

Power Rangers Zordon

Zordon

One of the most fascinating bits of Power Rangers casting information popped up earlier this year when it was revealed that Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston would take on the role of Zordon. As the leader of (and mentor to) the Power Rangers, the giant floating head has become one of the most iconic facets of the Power Rangers lore, and the casting of Cranston instantly guarantees that the character will have the necessary gravitas. However, as the original Zordon had a very low-budget appearance, we're dying to know how the 2017 update will alter his look. Will he still be a floating head, or will he be something even more ridiculous?

Power Rangers Alpha 5

Alpha 5

Aye aye aye! Power Rangers is an inherently lighthearted property, but if any one character specifically fits the bill of "comic relief," then that honor has to go to the robotic Alpha 5. As Zordon's loyal aid, the timid, cowardly machine serves as the tech support for the Rangers on their missions, and provides delightfully gutless color commentary on their exploits. It was recently announced that SNL alumni Bill Hader would take on the role of Alpha 5, and as such we're curious to see how his comedic sensibilities offset the darker tone of the Power Rangers reboot.

Power Rangers

The Rangers Fully Suited-Up

At this point, all we have really seen from the titular squad of teenage badasses are a few decent photos and a brief shot of them actually morphing into their suits during the first official trailer. We haven't really seen the Power Rangers in action, and that's somewhat important for a Power Rangers movie. Getting a better sense of the action in this reboot will go a long way towards instilling confidence in the overall film, and as such it's one of the most important things that we're still dying to get a glimpse of.

Power Rangers Green Ranger

The Green Ranger

As of now there's still no guarantee that Tommy Oliver a.k.a The Green Ranger will make an appearance in the Power Rangers reboot. However, a recently released image of Rita Repulsa has many speculating that the staff she uses contains a green power coin -- which she uses to create the Green Ranger in the original series. That's admittedly very close to the whole "Infinity Stone hidden in Loki's staff" storyline in the MCU, but it still makes perfect sense in the Power Rangers universe. Even if the movie doesn't include a proper Green Ranger just yet, we would absolutely love to see the introduction of Tommy, and the set-up for a villainous Green Ranger in an inevitable sequel.

What aspects of the Power Rangers mythology do you want to see in the upcoming reboot? Let us know what you think in the comments! Power Rangers will blast its way into theaters on March 24, 2017.

Conner Schwerdtfeger

Originally from Connecticut, Conner grew up in San Diego and graduated from Chapman University in 2014. He now lives in Los Angeles working in and around the entertainment industry and can mostly be found binging horror movies and chugging coffee.
