The Lego Batman Movie Will Have A Lot Of Surprising DC Characters

Comic book movies have gotten bigger and better over the years, and we have absolutely loved watching the evolution. Specifically, in the world of DC, we have had the pleasure of watching some of the most iconic characters in history connect for the very first time. However, one of the coolest upcoming DC films will quite LITERALLY connect these characters. A new poster for The LEGO Batman Movie has just hit the web, and it promises an army of DC heroes and villains. Check it out below!

As you can fairly easily glean from that Tweet, The LEGO Batman movie is chock full of iconic DC characters. We have obviously known for some time that mainstays of the Will Arnett Batman mythos -- such as Alfred (Ralph Fiennes), Robin (Michael Cera), and The Joker (Zach Galifianakis) -- would appear in the film. However, the above image really sells the idea that we will likely see Gotham in its entirety. With regards to Batman's rogues gallery, the image showcases icons like The Penguin, Scarecrow, and even less mainstream villains like Man-Bat, Clayface, and King Tut. In terms of allies, we get a solid look at Lucius Fox, and Batgirl. It's legitimately a dream come true for the average Bat fanatic.

However, the DC goodness doesn't stop there. In addition to the inclusion of characters from the Batman mythos, the poster also shows plenty of heroes and villains who exist within the greater DC universe. In particular, it's worth noting that major Justice League heroes like Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Aquaman, and Hawkman (to name a few) are all present in the background. The presence of these JLA heavy hitters promises a ton of fun, and we can likely expect an awesome dynamic -- like the one shared between Green Lantern (Jonah Hill), Superman (Channing Tatum), and Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders), who all appeared in 2014's The LEGO Movie. That being said, it's certainly unexpected (and pleasantly so) that The LEGO Batman Movie has dug so deep into the DC mythos for its ensemble.

Of course, at the end of the day, we really should note that there's pretty much no way for all of these characters to have big parts in The LEGO Batman Movie. At its core, the film is a father/son tale between Batman and Robin, which means that most of these DC characters will likely have little more than cameos in the final cut of the film -- not that there's anything wrong with that. We can't wait to see how they are used.

We will bring you more information related to the upcoming release of The LEGO Batman Movie as new details become available to us. The lighter take on The Dark Knight will hit theaters on February 10, 2017.
