New Logan Image Shows A Solitary Wolverine

Superhero movies have undoubtedly matured over the last few years, and we have loved watching the shift take place. What was once a genre exclusively dependent on spectacle has started to delve into some deep and dark territory. With the upcoming release of James Mangold's Logan in the spring, it appears that we may have finally reached a beautiful apex for somber superhero movies. Hugh Jackman has consistently tweeted out amazing still shots from the set of Logan over the course of the last few weeks, and this one is definitely one of the coolest. The above photo shows Logan standing in the middle of a field, staring out into the distance. It completely encapsulates his solitary nature in a single image, and it sells the idea that Logan will showcase a more damaged version of the Wolverine. With his healing factor no longer working at full capacity, we can only imagine that he has started to ponder his own mortality in these quiet moments.

Slowly but surely it has become more and more obvious that Hugh Jackman and James Mangold are pulling out all of the stops for the upcoming Wolverine adventure. The tone of the film has been firmly established as somber and melancholy, and the trailers have consistently shown us that the movie has no intention of skimping on violence. After two solo Wolverine movies that ranged from downright terrible to painfully plain, it's clear that Logan will likely send our favorite X-Man out on a definitively high note.

A number of high profile critics recently had the opportunity to see a 40-minute section of Logan, and the overall response to Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film has been overwhelmingly positive. The aforementioned dark tone has received universal acclaim, and the introduction of X-23 apparently leaves the door open for her to eventually take over the franchise at some point. Even Marvel director Scott Derrickson recently tweeted his own enthusiasm for the film, and admitted that it may actually be the best X-Men movie ever made. That's high praise from the competition.

We will bring you any and all relevant details pertaining to the upcoming release of Logan as new information becomes available to us. The clawed mutant's final adventure will slash its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
