How Justice League Has Helped Jason Momoa's Career

Jason Momoa Aquaman

Being cast as a major superhero is the Hollywood equivalent of making partner at a law firm. It's how you know that you've made it. These comic book movie jobs pay well, they increase an actor's worldwide exposure and they just generally make life easier. As it turns out, that's the biggest reason why Jason Momoa was happy to be cast as Aquaman in Justice League. The actor explained:

I haven't been an actor who's been able to pick and choose roles, and being a family man, it's been about putting food on the table. This has been the best moment of my career because the superhero roles are letting me get the other roles I want.

Jason Momoa hasn't even officially debuted as Aquaman yet in the DCEU (aside from a brief cameo in Batman V Superman), but the actor's words to THR seemingly indicate that the role as already helped his career in a major way. If his role as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones unlocked the door for him to take on more leading roles in Hollywood, then his upcoming performance as Arthur Curry in Justice League has officially opened the door and torn it off of its hinges. Momoa previously had to take pretty much any and every job he could get his hands on to provide for his family, but the notoriety that he has gained from a high-profile role in the upcoming DC team-up movie has made his life much easier.

The fruits of his labor have already started to pay off. In addition to the production of Justice League, and the upcoming production of James Wan's Aquaman, Jason Momoa has also been hard at work on his new Netflix series, Frontier. As his work within the DC Extended Universe continues to turn him into more of a household name, it will become much easier for studios to sell him as the lead in projects that he has a genuine interest in working on. That's pretty much the dream for any actor.

The advantages of comic book movies have already become a proven phenomenon within the Hollywood community. Only a few weeks ago, we reported on the revelation that three of the highest grossing actors of 2016 (Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr.) were performers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These movies rake in mountains of cash, so any actor looking to make ends meet while also exploring their artistic passion would be wise to get into the comic book game.

CinemaBlend will keep you posted regarding all of Jason Momoa's upcoming projects set within the DCEU as more information is made available to us. Justice League is currently slated to hit theaters on November 17, 2017, and Momoa will take center stage when Aquaman debuts in theaters on October 5, 2018.
