Dave Bautista Starts Filming Avengers 3 Today, He's Just Missing One Important Thing

Avengers 3

The end of the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in sight. Filming on Avengers: Infinity War is getting underway as we speak. However, the movie is going to need one final thing before it's ready to get rolling. It could really use a script. Dave Bautista announced yesterday that he's going to start filming the next Avengers movie today, but he has never seen one.

To be clear, it is apparent from Dave Bautista's tweet, that includes video of Elizabeth Olson and [Jeremy Renner][2] admitting they don't know anything either, that there, in fact, is a script for Avengers: Infinity War, it's simply that the man who plays Drax has yet to see it. If they had sent Bautista a script he might have accidently left it on the bus or something, and since Marvel needs to be sure that nothing about the movie leaks, they probably have the script under lock and key someplace. It's common for movies these days to only distribute copies of the script as needed, often only the part necessary for the scenes that are being filmed.

Leaks from the new Avengers movie are probably being even more protected than usual, if such a thing is possible. The word is that both Avengers: Infinity War and the Avengers film that will follow it are being filmed back to back. It was the only way that they could get so many actors together to make the movies. As such, this will mean that the second part, which will essentially wrap up Phase Four of the MCU, will be filmed prior to a couple of Marvel films that will be released before it. As such, leaks from the Avengers set could spoil not just the movie itself, but a large part of the MCU that we have yet to see.

The fact that Dave Bautista starts filming today doesn't tell too much about the movie, beyond the fact that Drax will make an appearance. While the expectation has been that pretty much everybody that has shown up in the MCU will be part of these two Avengers movies, the Guardians of the Galaxy have been the biggest question mark considering the fact that they're the characters that haven't interacted with the rest of the universe up to this point. All indications have been that this won't change in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which means that whatever direction the story needs to go to change this will likely be part of Infinity War.

The fact that Dave Bautista starts filming on day one doesn't really indicate whether his part will be large, or if they're just looking to have him film a few scenes and go home. We're certainly hoping for the former, Drax has been one of the highlights of his films and all indications are that Drax will continue to steal the show in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
