Jurassic World 2 Is Bringing Back A Favorite Character

While Jurassic World took the Jurassic universe into an entirely new direction when it hit theaters in 2015, the film still maintained quite a few connections to the original Jurassic Park continuity. Through references, visual cues, and straight-up homages, the movie felt like a genuine love letter to the classic Steven Spielberg blockbuster. Now it seems that Jurassic World 2 will continue that tradition, as we have officially learned that B.D. Wong will return to the dinosaur franchise geneticist Dr. Henry Wu. That is right, aside from the fact that B.D. Wong and that velociraptor look like they are about to drop the most fire mixtape of 2017, we can also now confirm that Dr. Henry Wu will return for Jurassic World 2. Last time we saw this man of science he was escaping from the failed amusement park of the first movie with DNA samples -- leading us to believe that he will be the man behind whatever new dinosaurs make their way into the upcoming sequel.

The inclusion of B.D. Wong as Dr. Henry Wu in Jurassic World 2 certainly feels like a logical continuation of the current Jurassic World narrative, but it also serves as an easy way to connect this newly rebooted film series to the original Jurassic Park continuity. Henry Wu is one of the oldest characters in the Jurassic franchise, and his existence in this world dates all the way back to the original film in 1993.

Henry Wu BD Wong Jurassic Park

Not only that; they guy has not aged a day. He has clearly mastered the scientific art of keeping his DNA as pristine as it was in 1993, and I need to know his secrets.

That said, it is pretty much impossible to definitively know where Dr. Wu will go from here. Although the character is still alive in the live-action Jurassic universe, he died during the events of Michael Crichton's original Jurassic Park novel. There's no set precedent for where he can go from here (and his moral standing is incredibly gray). which makes him one of the most confusing yet interesting people to follow in this universe.

We will bring you more information related to Jurassic World 2 as new updates become available to us. The highly anticipated sequel is currently slated to hit theaters on June 22, 2018. Stay tuned for more details!
