How Chris Pratt Feels About Being Marvel Famous

Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy

It's hard to believe but there was a time when Chris Pratt was only sort of famous. On the eve of seeing the sequel to one of the films that made him really famous, the actor is reflecting on what a wild ride it has been. Of course, this is Chris Pratt we're talking about, so the guy doesn't really take it that seriously. We're not surprised that being a famous movie superhero is life changing, but we had no idea it created such an entourage.

Needless to say it's been a hell of a ride. I now have a certified aura translator on staff! (Glowing.) I got a yoga guy. An herb doctor. An alchemist who's working around the clock on formulas to turn my sweat into magic potion. I got a Tesla. I got a Tesla for my Tesla. I bought a tiger. People shout my name at the mall. They hand me babies and I'm like, 'Oh, you want me to kiss this baby?' They're like, 'No. I want you to keep it!'

So, if you're in the market for a baby, Chris Pratt says he's got lots of extra ones. There's probably somebody else in the actor's crew who handles all the babies he's given. While Pratt is obviously being funny in his post on Facebook, the humor likely comes from a very real place. The actor was known for his comedic work on Parks & Recreation but in very short order he was cast in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World and seemingly overnight he went from sitcom supporting player to blockbuster action hero. There's no way that his life hasn't changed in some major ways. He might actually own a Tesla. He probably doesn't own a tiger. Probably.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 coming out next month will act as a sort of anniversary as it was the first film that began Chris Pratt's rise to new levels of fame. The film was a major event on multiple levels. Not only did people believe that Chris Pratt could be an action star but a group of characters that weren't even particularly popular in the original comics became major players within Marvel's Cinematic Universe. Many are of the opinion that the original Guardians is the best thing Marvel has produced so far. We can only imagine what's going to happen to Chris Pratt if the sequel is equally as popular. How could things possibly get better than this:

Luxury jets are super expensive but my psychic Mirijamph promised me if I fly her family to my new compound in Aruba and get her my tax ID #'s I could get Evander Holyfield as my boxing coach! (Long story) things are good I guess. I played catch with Peyton Manning and Papa John just the other night... oh that reminds me... I'm probably getting my own pizza flavor if we can just figure out how to grind up diamonds into an edible powder. And other than that pretty normal day to day same old same old. Oh... They're thinking of naming a city after me. New York. Ever heard of it? Probably gonna be called New-Star-Lordia pretty soon.

It's clear that becoming part of the Marvel machine is a life changing experience. We can only hope that all of the fame hasn't gone to Chris Pratt's head and that the quality of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 doesn't suffer because Pratt was too busy playing catch with Papa John. The Guardians will save the galaxy again beginning May 5.
