Someone Made A Functional Wonder Woman Shield, And It’s Awesome

The Lasso of Truth may be Wonder Woman's most iconic piece of equipment, but the Amazon Princess has also been known to wield a sword and shield in the past. The DC Extended Universe's version of the character always comes fully equipped for battle, having used all of her weapons to battle Doomsday in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The team at Man at Arms: Reforged took it upon themselves to construct a real-life version of Wonder Woman's shield ahead of the release her first feature film. Check out the awesome video of them forging the shield below.

The popular YouTube series Man at Arms: Reforged has made a number of geeky weapons in the past and their latest video shows the team creating a copy of Wonder Woman's shield. Swords are cool and all, but the process of how they construct the shield is incredibly interesting. The 15-minute video demonstrates how they build the shield step-by-step, from shaping the metal into a circular shape to making the molds that will decorate it. So, if you happen to have the tools and heavy machinery lying around your house, you now have the ability to make a shield of your own.

The finished product is truly impressive and it isn't just for show either. The shield is capable of breaking the arrows that clash with it, as well as the varied types of fruits that are tossed. Obviously, it wouldn't be able to take a punch from Doomsday or Ares, but it would still look mighty nice hanging over a fireplace.

Wonder Woman will utilize her shield and more for the release of her new movie, Wonder Woman, hitting theaters in less than a week. Diana will need to utilize all of her skills and unique superpowers to combat her latest threat. Taking place in World War I, trailers have already shown Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman going up against human soldiers, but rumors have claimed that the real villain of the film is Ares, the God of War. He has thus far not been seen in any promotional material, but Wonder Woman will likely be glad she has a shield should she ever have to fight a god.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is the latest from Warner Bros. and DC Films and is the first solo movie for the iconic superhero. The character made her live-action debut in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and will appear again alongside her fellow heroes later this year in November's Justice League.

Wonder Woman hits theaters later this week on June 2. To learn more about the film, make sure to check out everything we know so far about Wonder Woman.
