New Thor: Ragnarok Concept Art Shows The Two Avengers In Battle

With Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters and raking up some serious dough at the box office, the time has come to look forward to the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And that film is Thor: Ragnarok, which will be a game changer for the god of thunder's franchise. Director Taika Waititi has promised a far more fun and comedy-filled tone for the threequel, and Ragnarok also has the distinction of bringing Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk into Thor's world. The two Avengers will first meet up on the battlefield, and now a new image from the film has teased that exciting moment. Check it out.

I mean, come on. It just doesn't get much cooler than this.

This concept art teases the already highly anticipated moment from Thor: Ragnarok, which will feature Thor and Hulk duking it out in an intergalactic colosseum. It's unclear how the green guy gets to this point, but the debate of which titan would win in a battle has been going on for quite some time. Mark Ruffalo teased that the upcoming trailer for Ragnarok will answer that question once and for all, so it looks like either Hulk or Thor is going to get knocked out by their teammate. Ouch.

One aspect of the above image that is particular fascinating is Thor's choice in weapons. The first trailer for Ragnarok shows Cate Blanchett's Hela destroying Thor's hammer Mjolnir, which is the source of much of his electric abilities. He'll likely have to go through the majority of the film just using his strength and fighting ability to battle his foes, which should allow for the otherwise overpowered hero to be a bit more humbled. And while the trailer for the threequel shows Thor using a mace to battle Hulk, the concept art shows him using dual blades instead. Indeed, they can be seen on his back in the trailer, so maybe he'll be able to cut up Hulk in their impending battle.

As a reminder, check out the teaser below, ending with a shot very similar to this new concept art.

So. Damn. Cool.

I'm especially interested to see how Thor and Bruce Banner get closer through the events of Thor: Ragnarok. They're not exactly the tightest duo of Avengers, but that should change with their intergalactic buddy comedy. And if their relationship brings synergy on the battlefield, it will be exactly what the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy will need in their impending battle against Thanos in Infinity War.

Thor: Ragnarok will arrive in theaters on November 3rd. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
