Jason Momoa Celebrated His Birthday With The Coolest Aquaman Cake

After he makes his official debut in this fall's Justice League, Jason Momoa's Aquaman will be setting off for his own adventures in his standalone film, Aquaman. James Wan is currently shooting the blockbuster in Queensland, Australia with Momoa, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and the rest of the cast, and this past week also happened to be Momoa's birthday. The actor turned 38, but wouldn't you know it, he had to work on his birthday. Momoa received a heartwarming surprise from his family and the crew of Aquaman when he was greeted with an especially awesome Aquaman-themed cake.

Filming Aquaman in Australia, Jason Momoa was given the surprise of his life when his wife, Lisa Bonet, and two young daughters arrived on the secretive film set. Momoa's ohana (Hawaiian for family) was accompanied by a group of Hawaiian warriors dressed in native guard. Momoa shared the experience on his Instagram, writing that he had "never been so surprised," and was extremely thankful to all his family and friends.

But what's a birthday party without a cake? Jason Momoa's family did not disappoint. They brought an incredible looking Aquaman-themed cake, depicting Momoa in the classic orange and green the character is known for and riding a massive seahorse. It's the kind of cake you don't want to eat because of how beautiful it looks -- but obviously, you are going to because how often do you get to eat a mini-you? Get ready for Aquaman-themed birthday parties to be cool for maybe the first time ever!

After being briefly seen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Aquaman makes his true debut in Justice League. The film will depict a rougher, lone-wolf take on the character, as he initially refuses to work with Batman and the rest of the heroes. That attitude will eventually change when he's drawn into the conflict with Steppenwolf and must work with the others to protect the world.

Following Justice League, Arthur Curry will next be found in his first solo film, Aquaman. Not much is known about the movie, but it will explore Aquaman's relationship to Atlantis and his rightful claim as its king. The first footage for the film was shown at San Diego Comic Con in July, which depicted Aquaman confronting an army of Atlantean ships. The clip was not released online afterward. Aquaman is directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson, Temuera Morrison, and Ludi Lin.

Justice League is set to premiere on November 17, 2017, while Aquaman is slated for December 21, 2018. To learn more about Aquaman, check out everything we know so far about the upcoming blockbuster film.
