How The Kardashians Helped Jennifer Lawrence Survive The Brutal Mother! Shoot

Jennifer Lawrence Mother

We all have our own unique ways of dealing with stress when things get a little too hectic or heavy. Some of us exercise, while other people listen to music. Then again, if you are Jennifer Lawrence, you can always envelope yourself in pictures of the Kardashian family and chew gumballs. New details about the actress' way of dealing with her intense role for Darren Aronofsky's mother! have just come forward, and Lawrence has admitted that she used a Kardashian-themed tent to go to her "happy place." The actress explained:

It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop --- and gumballs. My happy place.

Like I already said: everyone needs his or her own way to decompress when things get tough. For Jennifer Lawrence, it definitely seems like she would need all of the help she could get while working on mother! Although the actress' star has risen at an exponential rate over the course of the last few years, mother! feels like one of her first forays back into the dark dramas that put her on the map before her roles in films like X-Men: First Class and The Hunger Games. Darren Aronofsky will seemingly bring out a side of her that we have not seen in quite a while (if ever), so it probably helps that Kim, Khloe, and all of the rest could contribute to making that transition easier for her.

Of course, according to the Vogue report about Jennifer Lawrence's Keeping Up with the Kardashians habit, it does not sound like the film's director was in on the shenanigans. When asked about the use of the Kardashians as a decompression technique, Darren Aronofsky (Noah, Black Swan) responded mostly with a sense of befuddled amusement -- noting how objectively ridiculous it seems on the surface. Having said that, it doesn't necessarily look like the director disapproved of Lawrence's methods, as the two eventually started dating after the film wrapped production. I guess the Kardashian family can add "match making" to their list of businesses.

mother! is Darren Aronofsky's first film since 2014's Noah, and it could potentially become the latest in a long line of dark and cerebral masterpieces for the director. The film centers on a couple (Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem) who find their relationship put to the test when strangers arrive to stay at their home. As the events of the story unfold, Lawrence's character begins to unravel a mystery with deep implications for her and her husband. In addition to Lawrence and Bardem, mother! also stars Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer. So yeah, we're totally on board.

Darren Aronofsky's mother! will debut in theaters next month on September 15. If you are on the lookout for more information concerning the rest of this year's major releases, then take a look at CinemaBlend's 2017 movie premiere guide!
