Could More Than One Green Lantern Show Up In Justice League? Here's The Latest

Green Lantern

DC Films is preparing for the release of Justice League, its biggest film yet which will unite six of DC's greatest heroes to take on a cosmic threat. Comic book fans will notice that one member of this lineup has been continually left out: Green Lantern. While there isn't much proof, the character (specifically Hal Jordan) has long been rumored to have a secret cameo in the film. Well, a new rumor is doing the rounds and it claims that when Green Lantern arrives on Earth, he won't be alone. Apparently, he'll be accompanied by another Lantern.

This new rumor comes from professional scooper Umberto Gonzalez (via Heroic Hollywood). On Inside Fanboy Baseball Periscope, Gonzalez revealed that he had heard that Justice League will have two Green Lanterns appear. Gonzalez mentioned that it was entirely possible that this idea will get cut before the film's premiere, but the current plan is for two to show up. Only time will tell if this scoop turns out to be accurate and fans are treated to double the Lantern goodness when Justice League lands in November.

Umberto Gonzalez did not mention which two Green Lanterns could be appearing in the film, but there is certainly no shortage to choose from. The Green Lantern Corps features a limitless number of members, many of them unique alien species. Abin Sur, the original Green Lantern of Earth, has been rumored to have a Justice League cameo. However, it might make the most sense for the cameos to belong to two Green Lanterns of Earth. Hal Jordan is the likeliest candidate and he could be joined by John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner or more recent addition like Simon Baz or Jessica Cruz.

If I were a betting man, though, I would say it's incredibly likely that the spots belong to Hal Jordan and John Stewart. This is mostly because of the in-development Green Lantern Corps movie, which is said to star the two of them. The project has been described as a buddy cop movie in space and giving Jordan and Stewart the Justice League cameos would be nice set up for that movie.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and features Batman assembling a team of superpowered individuals to combat an alien threat to the planet. When the villainous Steppenwolf arrives to collect three Mother Boxes, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman will unite to stop them. There might even be a little room in there for a Green Lantern or two, but the size of their roles is up for debate.

To find out if any Green Lanterns are in Justice League, we'll all just have to see the movie when it comes out on November 17, 2017. To learn what you about the movie until then, check out everything we know so far about Justice League.
