First Footage From Ironclad Looks Like They Pinched Their Pennies

On Saturday we brought you the first image of James Purefoy from Jonathan English's Ironclad. It featured a sword that looked as though it could spear ten men and still have enough room left to threaten five more. Now we have our first look at footage from the film, and, frankly, it looks like they blew all of their budget on the blade.

First posted on Cinematical and constructed from footage from the first two weeks of shooting (despite what the trailer says the film is now in post-production), the film appears to have a top notch cast (including the likes of Purefoy, Brian Cox, Paul Giamatti, Bob Hoskins, Richard Attenborough, et al.) but the quality of a made for TV movie. Mostly consisting of horse riding, sword fighting and conversations about death and strategy, the film doesn't look much different than any other period piece from the Middle Ages. Ridley Scott, I think Robin Hood is safe from competition for now. Check out the trailer below.
