Edward Norton Won't Return As The Hulk Anytime Soon

There are a number of superhero portrayers who will see their roles live on through Marvel’s upcoming projects, but Edward Norton is not one of them. Some are hoping Norton will suit up as the The Hulk in The Avengers or even just have a cameo in one of the studio's many films in the works, but doesn’t look like that’ll be happening anytime soon.

While at SXSW for Leaves of Grass, MTV caught up with the actor and asked him if he’d be stepping back into Bruce Banner’s shoes again. He simply replied, “No” and added, “I think they've got a whole lot of stuff to spool out before they get on into [a Hulk sequel].” He admits throwing The Hulk into Captain America might not do the film any good, but said, “We'll see what they want to do. I figure it's a ways down the road." The more the merrier when it comes to The Avengers and I’d think Marvel would share that sentiment. If Norton is willing to do it, why not throw The Hulk into the group?

As for rumors of The Incredible Hulk 2, Norton elaborated, but again, completely dismissed that concept while chatting with Cinematical. When asked if the plan is still on he said, “I don't think so. I think it has got more to do with what Marvel is doing. I get the sense they have this grand vision of unspooling a lot of their characters and then starting to put them together. I think they can only do so many at a time.” It’s no surprise that The Hulk isn’t Marvel’s top priority, but Norton’s apparent openness to reprising the role could spark an idea for the future.
