Cronenberg And Mortensen Planning An Eastern Promises 2

Viggo Mortensen and David Cronenberg have discovered lately they're something of a dream team, making A History of Violence and Eastern Promises together and reaping heaps of critical acclaim in the process. They're already planning a third collaboration, with Mortensen starring as Sigmund Freud in Cronenberg's The Talking Cure, but a fourth might not be far behind either.

Producer Paul Webster told Deadline Hollywood that Cronenberg and Mortensen will reteam for a sequel to Eastern Promises, the 2007 film that earned Mortensen a Best Actor nomination. The project, to be distributed by Focus Features, would shoot this winter right on the heels of The Talking Cure. It seems awfully optimistic for Mortensen and Cronenberg to jump into two back-to-back projects like that, but I'm not sure anyone ever made it anywhere by doubting them.
