Watch Actors Hit Their T's In This I Am Number 4 Featurette

When the first trailer for DJ Caruso’s I Am Number 4 hit, it looked like it had potential to be a fun actioner with a sci-fi undertone and maybe a little love story tossed in there. Unfortunately, this new featurette that just hit the web makes it look like a half-assed Twilight clone with better looking leads and not enough anything else.

Cue the slow twangy guitars and the outsider trying to live a normal life despite his abnormal past; enter cute girl who just wants to be with him and doesn’t care about what he is. If it looked any more like “Twilight with aliens”, Stephanie Meyer would have a copyright infringement case on her hands.

There’s no reason to think that this tiny featurette is indicative of what the actual final product will be like, especially since the first trailer was pretty solid. But this may be a warning to those of us who were expecting teenage alien battles rather than teenage angsty love stories a la Roswell. Have a look HERE and judge for yourself, and read the synopsis below to see if they hit the mark.

Three are dead. He is Number Four. D.J. Caruso ('Eagle Eye', 'Disturbia') helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events--his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.
