Candy-Colored Kaboom Poster Is Exactly What You Should Expect

After popping up amid weightier, more dire fare at the Cannes and Toronto film festivals last year, Gregg Araki's Kaboom is getting its theatrical release later this month, just after one last festival stop at Sundance. With its bright colors, excessive sex and jaw-droppingly beautiful cast, it's the perfect antidote to the festival doldrums, and exactly the fun and ridiculous movie you expect from Araki, the director of The Doom Generation and Smiley Face. The movie's a little hard to explain in plot summary form, but basically you can expect The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Thomas Dekker as a sexually confused 19-year-old college student, Juno Temple as his promiscuous best friend, and a whole lot more muscled and half-naked people for the two of them to sleep with. Oh, and a conspiracy plot that might concern the end of the world-- but really, that's the least important part of it.

With Kaboom coming out in theaters so soon it's finally got an official poster, which premiered at Vulture and you can see below. It actually sums up the movie perfect-- the stars brightly lit and looking on the verge of orgasm, the weird cast of characters surrounding them, the rainbow letters and the pull quote promising "a gonzo teen fantasy" that "trippy, horny" and "apocalyptically funny." If you are interested in any of those things, I promise the movie will not disappoint. Take a look at the poster below and look for Kaboom in theaters and on-demand later this winter.
